Share the hunt
Post finds, ask for help identifying something, compare gear, and talk about beach conditions without revealing a spot you would rather keep private.
TheOCDetector
TheOCDetector community
A free metal detecting community for sharing finds, comparing beach conditions, asking questions, and meeting the creators you already watch.
Why Discord?
I've been very surprised by how helpful the metal detecting community has been since I started. My goal with this Discord is to connect more of us in one centralized place.
We can find each other in YouTube comments, which is good for engagement, but it is hard to have a real conversation that way. Discord gives us a place to talk without needing to exchange phone numbers or other personal contact information.
It is also a place where creators can collaborate privately and fans can interact with their favorite metal detecting YouTubers. If the server takes off, I hope more creators decide to make it a home base between videos.
It is free to join and low risk. If you do not like it, leave.
Who it is for
You do not need a channel, an expensive detector, or years of experience. Curiosity is enough.
Post finds, ask for help identifying something, compare gear, and talk about beach conditions without revealing a spot you would rather keep private.
Ask about a video, meet other people who follow the same channels, and have a conversation that does not disappear inside a YouTube comment thread.
Verified creators get access to private channels for collabs, filming and editing talk, gear reviews, and channel questions.
Community bot
The server bot is configured to check official NOAA predictions every six hours and post an alert when a negative low tide enters the next 48-hour forecast. Alerts cover North, Central, and South Orange County beach areas.
Members can also use /tides to check upcoming lows for Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, The Wedge, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and Doheny, or San Clemente.
If a beach is missing, bring its NOAA station number to #bot-requests. Station corrections and ideas for new commands are welcome there too.
